The Dark Knight: Let’s Put a Smile on the Face!

So I just returned from an early screening of The Dark Knight, and before I get into the review that I’m sure you are all expecting allow me to first let out my frustrations…

If there is a special place in Hell for people who talk in the theater then where do the people who START FIGHTS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FREAKIN’ MOVIE GO???????? Not only did these two morons fight in front of me as one of them left the movie not even half way through but they made management interrupt the movie trying to find these idiots after they left so I unfortunately missed around 3-5 minutes.

But back to what this whole thing is about!

The Dark Knight… the movie expected to be this summers (and maybe this years) biggest, most explosive, action packed, mind blowing, and any other type of crazy adjective you can think of blockbuster smash hit. And in several ways it sure was!

Let me first cover the most obvious; this was Heath Ledger’s last complete movie and the hype before and after his unfortunate death was not hot air. Straight from the opening we see the brilliance of the character, through every scene he steals we see true psychosis and intensity, and the almost comically insane dialogue is delivered perfectly! Has a dead person ever been nominated for an Oscar???

The overall story was quite a change from your previous Batman movies (the old one or even the amazing Batman Begins) keeping you wondering exactly what the Joker will be doing next to further the plot, guessing how Dent becomes Two-Face, and how Batman and Bruce Wayne will cope with it all. Just as Batman Begins focuses on the moral responsibility to do what is right if you have the ability The Dark Knight is filled with moral dilemma after moral dilemma for more than just Bruce Wayne.

The acting in the movie, besides the incredible Ledger, comes across either phenomenally or not quite right. Bale, Caine, Freeman, and Oldman are quite phenomenal but there are a few points where I felt that Two-Face lacked the intensity I felt he should have had. But those scenes weren’t really that often so it didn’t really take much away from my enjoyment.

For those out there who have been salivating since Batman Begins came out will not be disappointed by The Dark Knight. After you see the movie please check out the forums.
